Dreamgirls is simply one of the BEST films I have seen in years. A replica of the popular Broadway play from decades ago, this film is simply spectacular. Starring singer Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, and former American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson, the cast and the music are what make this such a success. The songs bounce off the edges of perfection and the cast is so well-rounded that I can't picture it being any other way. Beyonce gives the performance of her career, now nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Jennifer Hudson gives an amazing performance as well, nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Her singing is by far the strongest and most emotionally moving. Her acting in the beginning of the movie isn't very convincing but by the time the plot thickens, it is easy to tell that she has mastered the role of Ettie White. Jamie Foxx, although his vocals aren't the strongest compared to the rest of the cast, plays his role very well. Eddie Murphy has a James Brown-like sound that works beautifully with his role. Overall, the acting, music, and plot are the perfect combination for success! The movie has 5 Golden Globe Award nominations, including Best Picture. You HAVE TO SEE THIS!!!
